Spiritual Life – righteousness, peace and joy at a personal level are the things that uphold our lives, relationships and service. Rom.14:17. When people drift away from spiritual health and vitality they become a liability to themselves and others. Negativity, faithlessness, and destructive criticism often come from those who have fallen ‘out of love for the Lord.’
· Loyalty – to each other, the vision, the Lord, the leadership, the Church as a whole. To esteem others that we work with and among, in public and private life, is vital, in order to keep the “Accuser” from destroying us from within. Eph.4:29; Luke 11:17.
· The Word – The Word, even in the church name, tells us and others, that the Bible and its principles underlie all that we do. Matt.4:4; Mk.4:19; Mk.7:13; John 1:1. Everything eternal and valuable begins and ends with the Word of God. Human wisdom, no matter how reasonable, relevant, and intelligent it appears, will never produce what God desires where there are issues of eternal significance.
· Prayer – as God’s House is defined as a House of Prayer, personal and corporate prayer life is vital to sustain our spiritual focus. James 4:6 Prayer is an evidence of the humility that releases the enabling grace of God to all that He has called us to do. Isa.56:7; Matt. 21:13
· Faithfulness – as the Church is called “The Faithful City” (Isa.1:26) it is fundamental that those who serve, champion the value of faithfulness in the entire scope of their lives. 1 Cor.4:2; Luke 12:42. We reveal the character of God, who is always faithful; as we are faithful…we can be counted on in every relationship, responsibility, task, attitude and effort.
· Integrity – this is basically honesty. To live and speak in truthfulness is vital to our success no matter how hard it seems at times. Eph.4:15,25; Rom.12:17 KJV.
· Commitment – the self-sacrificing effort that is the bedrock of continuity and stability. In a world that is governed by feelings and convenience, only a commitment to give our all, no matter the season, will ensure our longevity and continued growth. Many people come and go, chasing their own dream and never sticking and staying anywhere long enough to make a mark with their lives. Col.3:23,24. The haphazard, hit and miss, poor attendance mentality, reveals a real lack of revelation of what it takes to make something strong and great.
· Vision – no church moves into new realms continuously, accommodating the changes that go with such movement, without the spiritual faculty of vision. Israel, in Egypt, first saw the Promised Land with spiritual eyes, and then went there. Prov.29:18 KJV NIV.
· Evangelism – the outflow of love and grace to a world that does not know Him ensures the inflow of grace, resources (both material and personnel), and increased influence to accomplish the Great Commission. Mark 16:15-20; Acts 2:37.
· A Servant’s Heart – only the heart and lifestyle of a servant motivated by no other motive than to make others successful, can build together what He is building, for He modelled building, by serving. Matt.20:28.
· Excellence – to decide that our best is what He and His People and His mission deserve and to stay with it, until it is magnetically attractive because of excellence. Titus 3:8; 1 Tim.3:13; 2 Cor.8:7. Our world is full of the mediocre, the sloppy and the half-hearted effort.
· Faith – the very foundation of pleasing God and seeing His power released, is what energises our efforts and brings the reward of the supernatural. No faith, no Divine product or result. Every dimension of church life, both personal and corporate, is founded on what He can do and what He has said He will do when we believe. Heb.11:6; 2 Cor.8:7; 1 Thes.1:3.
· Relationship – the Cross of Christ is God’s statement of how important relationship is to Him. So many walk away from relationships or never seek to develop them for a host of reasons. This is not the ethos of where God lives. I Cor.13:1-7; Gal.5:23; 1 Pet.1:22. Jesus spoke of those who served with out loving…knowing Him…(Matt.7:22,23).
· Prosperity – vision is made possible by money. No money, no great progress. 2 Cor.8:9; 2 Cor.9:8. Great vision is accomplished by the faith that generates great finances. Large staffs, numerous facilities, many missionaries, great outreach teams, radio, television, church planting, programmes for the poor and destitute, and much more, require that the Church tap into the prosperity of God for the purpose of extending His Kingdom.
· Diversity – the Church is full of every kindred, tribe and tongue. We embrace all kinds of people from every social and financial strata of society and every differing culture. The richness of diversity reflected in the family on earth is preparation for the diversity of Heaven. The only foreign element of the church is sin…sin is what does not belong. The Family of God is made up of all races, colours and backgrounds. Eph.3:14,15; Rev.5:9,10.
· The Local Church – the Church of Jesus Christ at the local level is where all of God’s purposes are worked out for the individual and the community. Of the nearly 100 times the word, “church” is mentioned in the New Testament, over two thirds of them refer to a local church. God has organized His global operation at the ground level into local churches working together as One Church to accomplish His mission. It is the only thing He said He was building. Matt.16:18; Acts 15:3,4;
· The Supernatural – the Christian life begins with a miracle and is to be advanced by many miracles…the miracle of growth, the miracle of healing, the miracle of provision and many other types of miracles. John 2:11; Acts 2:22; Gal.3:5; John 14:12.
· Worship – worship keeps us God-centered instead of self-focused or work-focused. The health of any church can ascertained by the depth of their worship. Rev.11:1; Phil.3:3
· Unity – maintaining harmonious relationships that enable the highest level of work to be done no matter the differences of opinion or practice. Unity is not conformity but cooperation, communication and progress while engaging with diversity and difference. Doctrine, practice, judgment, style and vision are often the arenas of division. What matters most is corporate progress that cannot be stopped by personal difference. Eph.4:3; Rom.12:16; 1 Cor.1:10.
· Change – the local church, full of people, must of necessity embrace change in order to become what they are. To endeavour to progress without embracing change of numerous kinds is to live in fantasy. God is always taking us into a ‘new place’ out of our traditions, comfort zones, previous ways of thinking and doing that He might accomplish His plans. 2 Cor.3:18. The perfect church is evolving at the personal and corporate level until the task is complete and He returns for her. Eph.4:13,15.
· Submission – Divine blessing only comes out of Divine order. As in personal life, family life and church life there must be recognition and subscription to the truth of submission to authority in every area of life in order to avoid chaos, anarchy and maintain peace. Romans 13.
